A comedy classic that will strike you as sparkling new!
This high energy, knockout show that really puts life into the verses by C.J.Dennis. There is robust silent movie style that The Age called “Chaplinesque” and almost non-stop physical action as Billo the Bloke, “is little peach, Doreen” and all his mates come to life on stage.
If you can’t imagine how the slang verse of Dennis’ classic can be brought so cleverly up to date and made so lively and enjoyable then come and be amazed by how it’s done!
Review
Frank Van Straten ABC Radio 774 fm It was real grouse, sheer magic… glorious Australian material that is worked so beautifully, hilarious and moving...beg to get a seat for the rest of the season! It's a great experience and thoroughly recommended -congratulations to Petty Traffikers.
Geoffrey Milne review 774 ABC radio I loved this –a marvellous little theatrical confection - It is a scream – Terrific piece, really energetic theatre from a very versatile company and makes surprisingly good theatre.
John Gunn Community Radio 3CR Every now and again a production comes along and captures the imagination, sweeps you along and sends you home tingling all over….. to quote C.J Dennis “Lifes what you make it” and if you make it to Petty Traffikers production of “The Sentimental Bloke” then you will feel all the better for it and in this day and age we need all the joy we can get. A delightful theatre piece Don't miss this one!
